Preparing Workplaces for Philadelphia's
New Menopause Protections

A new Philadelphia law taking effect January 1, 2027 will extend workplace protections to employees experiencing menstruation, perimenopause, and menopause under the

Philadelphia Fair Practices Ordinance (PFPO).

Many organizations are only beginning to understand what this means — not only from a compliance and legal perspective, but from a leadership, culture, and employee wellbeing standpoint as well.

Philadelphia is ahead of the curve.

Your organization can be, too.

WHY IT MATTERS FOR YOUR PEOPLE

Perimenopause and menopause affect millions of women during some of their peak professional years. Symptoms such as disrupted sleep, brain fog, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, mood shifts, and fatigue can quietly impact confidence, communication, engagement, and performance at work.

Most women navigate these experiences without meaningful workplace support — and many employees suffer silently out of fear of stigma, misunderstanding, or professional consequences.

WHY IT MATTERS FOR YOUR COMPANY

As awareness around menopause in the workplace continues to grow, employers are recognizing the importance of proactive education, thoughtful leadership, and compliance preparation.

Organizations that begin preparing now will be better positioned to:

• understand their obligations under the new law
• reduce confusion and potential workplace risk
• navigate sensitive conversations with greater confidence
• strengthen workplace culture and employee trust
• support retention and sustainable performance among experienced talent

Informed, supportive workplaces are not only better for employees — they are better for organizational health,

culture, and long-term success.

HOW WE HELP

To support employers in preparing for these changes, we created The PFPO Readiness Initiative Framework — a three-part program designed to bridge compliance, leadership education, and employee wellbeing support.

Our programming includes:

Employer Readiness & Compliance Training
For HR professionals, legal teams, and organizational leaders to better understand the new PFPO protections, workplace responsibilities, reasonable accommodations, risk reduction strategies, and how to navigate sensitive conversations with clarity and confidence.

• Workplace Awareness Education
For employees at all levels to build understanding around perimenopause and menopause, reduce stigma and misinterpretation, and create more informed and supportive workplace cultures.

• Women’s Support & Sustainable Performance Programming
Practical, evidence-informed tools to help women manage stress, symptoms, communication, resilience, and sustainable performance — without burning out.
