It can be uncomfortable — even downright terrifying — to open ourselves up to being loved. Allowing our hearts to be vulnerable goes against our protective human nature.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, practice offering YOURSELF the kindness, compassion, and encouragement you so freely bestow on others. Without judgment, recognize the resistance and self-imposed barriers, and firmly, yet kindly chip away at them.
Done regularly, the rewards are exponential, expanding our ability to love others (and ourselves) fiercely.
Note: Savoring a bit of chocolate with any endeavor only enriches the experience. Go on, treat yourself.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
